Before we owned our property here, my husband and I used to love to visit different B&B's in Western North Carolina. The first time we stayed in our now hometown, Saluda, North Carolina, was in 1985. That was also our first time to stay at the Orchard Inn.
It was an after Easter/Holy Week mini-vacation. We enjoyed our stay so much that we returned a number of times over the years to celebrate special occasions like our wedding anniversary or birthdays.
Although we no longer have need of lodging in Saluda, the Orchard Inn has remained a favorite place for dinner on special occasions. One memorable occasion was the celebration of my 50th birthday there with our best couple friends.
We had not been to dinner at the Orchard Inn for a long time when ballroom dance friends from Hendersonville recently suggested we plan a dinner there. Saturday night eight of us enjoyed a truly beautiful evening and a fabulous meal. The meals always include several courses with a choice of several entrees and choice of several desserts that change daily.
Views of the mountains, the setting-sun in an elegant, but quiet relaxed atmosphere. I can 't imagine a nicer for a meal with friends. And, the meals are always delicious, as good as any I've ever had.
Appetizers are served from 6:15 p.m.; dinner at 7:00 p.m. That gives lots of time to enjoy a glass of wine on the old fashioned spacious front porch;
or, the side deck;
or, the lovely great room of the Inn.
The views from the back/side deck
and dining room are magnificent.
Dinner is served on a porch
that runs along the back of the house. The porch was not originally a year-round space, but is now enclosed. There are windows the entire length of the room and the view is incredible.
View from far end of dining area:

The Orchard Inn originally was a vacation retreat for executives of a railroad company . . . Southern RR, I think. It is now on the National Register of Historic Places. And, it has recently been named one of the Top 15 Inns in the United States chose for Best Evening Cuisine by Arrington's Bed and Breakfast Journal.

What a delightful Inn. I love the porch! and the views and and and, thanks for sharing Orchard Inn with me.

CAIRO — Several thousand women demanding the end of military rule marched through downtown Cairo on Tuesday evening in an extraordinary expression of anger over images of soldiers beating, stripping and kicking female demonstrators in Tahrir Square.
